Success and Sacrifice go hand in hand. So what’s the price to success? There is only a few people I have ever met in my life know what the price of success truly is. As athletes we have learned the price of sacrifice and understanding the value of time, but the many they either don’t understand or simply don’t want to accept it as fact that the people who run a business or whom stand on top of the podium of a championship competition, or whom stands on the stage for impeccable performances that sacrifice is inevitable to gain success!
So how do we measure success? Success is very individual, and there are two things that drive us to success and that is pain or pleasure. I truly believe that success is driven by these two factors and they drive human instinct to the next level or they hold us back.
The great thing is that when we see success in others we have no idea what drove that person to their next level. Was it pain or pleasure that paved their way. See we had a coach that drove fear and pain into our heads when we were training and while we were growing up. We feared that we would be doing our programs for instance and a guard would come flying at us, or get our music turned off for making a mistake, or what ever it was. We sacrificed so much to be there and we did not want to be there. It was counter intuitive.
Coaches need to be understanding, firm, and fun with great ethics at the core to push through negativity as you are wiring your brain for success when we are growing up. Teachers teach but Coaches sure instill positivity in our souls to challenge ourselves. If we can relate the things we learn in sport to business or day-to-day events more of us will find those life lessons more valuable and adaptable to success.
Sometimes it can be parents that get in the way because we fear the failure speech that we might hear in their voices and what they have given up to help us grow. The worst thing is fearing failure and letting our parents down. But a really great athlete and business person and human being will embrace fear and use it as motivation. But, because of this position in our mindset so many people are not willing to risk everything to become successful because of the memories engrained in us. The pain receptors of failure in our parents faces stick in us for a life time. But if you are one of the lucky ones like Jodeyne and I you have parents that are resourceful and willing to push forward you might be the one to make a difference in this world. You need to be able to fight the fear head on. Everything is Figure-Out-Able!
Hey, when I say very few people, I’m being polite…in fact it’s almost no one who truly understands what it takes to be successful because they are so scared of fearing the unknown. Did you know that there are many people who are scared of success?
We kid ourselves from reality, we forget what drove us there in the first place. We had a love for something that was our guiding light and something turned it around on us inside. It may have been spiritual, environmental, it may have been a loss of faith in ourselves. What ever it is we need to find what drives us again. Find your life force and learning positive sacrifice is key. When we give things up and focus our energy on the necessity of success it will come full circle and give back to you ten fold.
For me and what I’m working on in my life and my life purpose I live by one very simple strategy:
Fulfillment and Happiness is key.
I exchange all my time on this planet to build my dreams, help others, help the environment, and build a base foundation of support for my family and friends to impact the lives of millions of people and do what I believe to be meaningful and beautiful work, sport, coaching, healthy living, and entertainment which we do!
I literally exchange every breathing moment for what I Believe in…and I can tell you I spent most of my life trying to reason with that concept and trying to find balance and fit it all in… Ya that’s not so easy in life but it sure is fun! Sometimes, it really depends on whom is in my circle at the time.
Daily, I wake up at 4:00am and I don’t stop until after midnight on many of those days simply because what I’m building means more to me than anything else that can help my family, my friends, my sport and entertainment industry, and many others along the way and inspire them to push forward in life. I now fully understand what it takes to create a vision and I simply exchange my time for it because I finally worked out that is the price we all must pay to be successful.
The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it!
The problem you face is the same problem almost everyone faces… Pain or Pleasure what is it that drives you to your success. We aren’t brought up to exchange our entire being, our energy and our time on this planet for what we believe in and our highest calling!
It’s considered abnormal in society and by your friends and family to be obsessive, to work tirelessly and around the clock, to sacrifice everything you have in order to become everything you can be! But here is a fact, “Your not working if you love what you do!”
But the truth is everyone that ever made an impact on this world and became legends in their field were abnormal…they didn’t quite fit in! I know I have never fit in and I never will. But the thing I learned is to be unique is an amazing feeling. Success is a measurement in time with the way you feel. If we can just make it replicable and fun we know we are on the right track.
Because they exchanged their time on this planet almost exclusively for what they believe in and dedicated their entire being to their craft and their calling!
It doesn’t matter if you look at Steve Jobs, Ayrton Senna, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa or even Elon Musk…They all understood that they had to exchange their life for what they believed in, otherwise what they believed in would never exist in the real world.
